Virgin Gorda Weddings
The British Virgin Islands, offering a wide variety of site locations, has been a favorite wedding / honeymoon destination for many years. From garden settings to white sand beaches to mountain vistas, you’re sure to find the perfect spot for your biggest day. And, wedding arrangements in the B.V.I.s can be easily arranged once you have arrived.
Requirements for a marriage license are as follows:
- Application for your license must be made at the Attorney General’s office located in the Government Administration Complex at Wickham’s Cay 1, Road Town, Tortola.
- You must be in the British Virgin Islands for a minimum of 3 business days prior to the wedding service and after having made application for your license.
- You are required to purchase $110.00 U.S. in postage stamps if you have been in the territory for less than 15 days prior to the ceremony, or $50.00 U.S. in stamps if you have been in the BVIs for 15 days or more.
- A current passport must be presented.
- Divorce decree if applicable.
- Death certificate for widow / widower.
- Two witnesses must be in attendance.
Once your application has been completed, you may then proceed to the Registrar’s office on Main Street, Road Town, Tortola. The office is open from 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, and from 9:00am to 12:00noon on Saturdays.
THE REGISTRAR WILL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:
- A marriage ceremony fee of $35.00 U.S. if the ceremony is performed in the office, and $100.00 U.S. if performed elsewhere.
- Full legal names of both parties
- Ages and dates of birth
- Occupations
- Names of the witnesses for the ceremony
